Reflective writing

I was excited for this pathway because is not a pathway I would choose because I’m not so familiar to this pathway. In contrast to last week, this week I brought a lot of different types of material, and I wanted to experiment with them all. I’m sure I will learn and experiment a lot this week. Our first assignment was to make a collage with whatever we had brought and make whatever we wanted. I had no idea what to make and I followed my instinct. I stared to rip off some pages from a magazine and keep only the little parts with colours that inspired me. I brought different type of textile paper like: bleached bark of Mulberry, bark of cinnamon, khadi paper witch I colored with watercolors, newspaper, magazines, papyrus, aluminium foil ecct. I wanted to use them all and mix them all together. I really tried to not think too much and just make, this is something really difficult for me because in my nature I’m more towards the ides of meaningful thinking and plan what to make. But I really enjoyed just making and not thinking too much. At the end I had this really big cardboard full of collage and I though that I had finished but the lecturer advised me to split this big piece in 5 pieces, and actually it was a really good idea! I loved my final work much more. There is so much in it and its so interesting to see all that pieces together. I attached my final work on the wall and I left it there all day, I loved watching it and it inspired me to be and stay creative the hole day. We also looked at some artist like : James Hyde a contemporary artist, Kurt Shwitters who become famous with his beautiful collage, Rauschenberg and Isa Genzken . Some of the works I saw were inspiring, but some of them I really didn’t like them. For some artists I had to understand the artists thoughts before I could understand their work. Today we drew a lot; for example, we closed our eyes and drew what we could hear, or we drew what we felt about our own breathing - heart beat - hearing. I felt a little bit uncomfortable but I enjoyed just to do and not think too much about thing and experiment this type of drawings. I liked it more when we had to draw some details that we saw in class. Today was helpful for me because it helped me to push me further and to think and create in ways I would never have done. I’m also really happy I brought different types of materials so I had more choice to use the right material for the right drawing. I discovered that creativity also come with the type of material that you use.
